Freshly washed, I stepped into my new tight fitting jeans that I bought yesterday , along with my form fitting t-shirt. I looked in the mirror appraising my appearance; 160 lbs lighter as the scale said yesterday, my hair thick and almost down to my waist. I barely recognized my new self since I've been 160 lbs overweight for almost 8 years. It was exciting and I felt like a whole new me.
Picking up my phone i saw that it read : Friday, 3:00. Which showed I had about 30 minutes to get home and log on for class;just enough time to enjoy a cigarette and get a starbucks coffee! I got my gear together and left the workout gym to my shiny, black 2007 Subaru Tiburan. The weather was a perfect 70 degree day and no cloud in sight as opned the door and enhaled its wonderful new car smell mix of leather and heat. I bought the SUV recently as a early graduation gift to myself- my parents tiping in a few thousand as a gift. I lit the cigarette and felt it's calming and relaxing effect smooth over me and i eased into the car rolling down all the windows. Starting the engine I headed to starbucks to get a coffee, the techno beats of my music thuding in the top of the line sound system. Anxouise to see if i received my usual Friday texty i glanced at my phone at the stop light and sure enough it was there; ' just picked him up, have him back Sunday.'
Relieved my kid was take care of for the weekend I pulled through starbucks and asked for my usual chai latte. I finished my cigarette as I pulled into my apartmnt complex,grateful for the silence as I entered my comfortable 2 bedroom apartment. As i put my gear down and began logging into my virtual classroom my phone rang and seeing it was my mother i picked up and said 'hello'
' hey sweetie, I'm getting your graduation invites done- what is your degree again?'
' heya mom it's 'Bachelors of Science, Software Systems Engineer'.
' Great! How are things out there? We miss you but will be down there in a few months when you graduate.'
' Ok sounds good.' we said our goodbyes and I hung up and i focused on the last of my classes.
An hour later, as I was finishing up class, my best friend Lynn called ' hi! you almost done or what? Waitin on you to meet us for drinks and then we go dancing!'
'Yay!! Girls night! Ok lemme get ready and I'll meet you there!'
Excitement pounded through me as I got ready to look my best..life exhilerating.

- Creative mom of an autistic boy. About my writing: I would use writing to formulate experiences into what I wanted. However, I felt overwhelmed by how grammar correction made my writing into something I didn’t want. I then found it harder and harder to be creative and lost all creative flow completely. I wrote mostly from age 14 to 18 doing poetry, short stories and literature pieces. After 18 the only thing I kept in my mind is an idea for a book and through encouragement and old age I got creative again. I enjoy it as a hobby, I’d like to see it as a career, but as a hobby there are no expectations…just enjoyment. Writing gives me a sense of freedom, accomplishment and self worth as I re-read and actually see the story in my head coming to life.
